Reggie is your average slice of pizza who loves his life; it is predictable and happy. Until one day when he suddenly falls ill, and his everyday life is anything but normal. 

Reggie learns to face his fears, what it means to be brave, accept his new journey, and find ways to heal through helping others who are sick. 

He realizes the whole time he was trying to get back to normal that normal is constantly changing and always different. Life is what you make of it!

Michelle Harvey, the author, is a proud mother to her son, Mason Harvey. So when Mason was diagnosed in 2020 with Crohn’s disease at the age of 11, Michelle realized there needed to be a friendly way to help children cope and thrive with any medical condition. She knew her son’s story could help children and adults while being an enjoyable and empowering story for any child. 

Mason Harvey, the author/illustrator, loved to draw food to pass the time during his hospital stay. He was taken off food and fed through a PICC line in his arm for several weeks. He would dream of food and started drawing every type of food he could think of. These drawings inspired the story of Reggie. Mason illustrated this book the same way he created his pictures in the hospital, using colored pencils. He tells his own story through Reggie as a way to show his journey and adventures with chronic illness.
